Frequently Asked Questions

What is shipping management?

Shipping management refers to the process of organizing, executing, and monitoring the shipment of orders from a warehouse or fulfillment center to the end customer. This includes selecting the appropriate carrier and service level, generating shipping labels and documentation, coordinating pickup schedules, tracking deliveries, and reporting on shipping performance.

In high-volume environments, shipping management often involves automation tools that apply business rules, consolidate batches, and ensure consistency across multiple carriers and sales channels. The goal is to maintain speed, accuracy, and cost efficiency across the entire outbound fulfillment process.

Does ShipJunction support batch shipping?

Yes. ShipJunction allows users to group hundreds or thousands of orders into a single batch based on custom filters like order status, ship method, carrier, or pick wave. From there, all labels and documents (including packing slips, shipping labels, carton IDs, etc.) can be printed in one click or scan to reduce handling time and eliminate delays at the pack station.

Can ShipJunction handle retail, wholesale, and DTC orders in the same workflow?

Yes. Whether it’s a wholesale EDI order with GS1-128 compliance, a DTC web order needing custom inserts, or a retail replenishment for Amazon, ShipJunction processes everything through the same interface. Fulfillment teams don’t need to switch systems or reconfigure printers by channel. ShipJunction handles all of that.

Does ShipJunction integrate with LTL shipping carriers?

Yes. ShipJunction integrates with supported LTL carriers to create and print all required freight documentation, including Bill of Lading (BOL), pallet placards, freight labels, and master carton IDs. All documents are generated as part of the same workflow as parcel shipments, making it easier to manage mixed-mode fulfillment without manual steps.

Currently, our LTL carrier integrations include FedEx Fright, T Force Freight, and XPO. We are constantly adding more and are open to adding carriers you require.

Can label printing be customized based on order details or carrier logic?

Yes. ShipJunction’s no-code rules engine supports logic based on any field in the order—carrier, weight, delivery method, warehouse, destination zone, item type, or customer-specific instructions. This allows for precise control over which label formats, insert documents, or service levels are used, without involving IT or writing scripts.
